1 Everything you need to know
2018 KS2 SATs Everything you need to know

2 What we will talk about:
What are the national curriculum tests? What are we doing (extra) to help? What can you do to help? Questions

3 What are the national tests (SATs)?

4 What are we doing to help?
SATs revision books have been sent home as part of the homework. Early opening for maths and reading practice. Extra members of staff (including SLT) in lessons to support the whole class and groups of children. Interventions and small groups in school time to help boost those that need it (regularly re grouped based on practice papers.) Online resources e.g. Mathletics, Times Tables Rock Stars, Bug Club

5 What can you do to help? Make sure that Revision book pages are completed for homework (English by Tuesday, Maths by Thursday). Make sure the children get a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast everyday. Make sure children are in school on time and every day. On the week of SATs-don’t book any appointments, be in school on time every day, make sure your child has plenty of sleep ad a healthy breakfast. If your child is ill, let us know immediately. Work through the activities in the Easter Holidays and mark together. Learn the spellings from weekly lessons and the Year 5/6 spellings. Complete the Maths questions in the booklet provided.

6 Arrangements in school during sats week
The children will complete the tests in the classrooms where they are taught The tables will be separated and the children will be seated in small groups. The test is timed and the children complete them in silence There will be extra adults in the classroom to support children with reading questions if needed We will continue with the rest of the day as normal to give the children routine and familiarity If there are special arrangements for your child you will be spoken to. Some children will receive extra time and/or a reader. Whilst we try not place pressure on the children, we help them to understand how important SATs are for their future education and we want them to achieve what we know they are capable of.
