Having a group identity can create a sense of unity amongst its members (sports team or a small nation)
Most people identify with a variety of groups (Newfoundlanders/Labradorians – Canadians- specific commmunity)
The distinctive expressions of culture that are found in a particular region contribute to that area’s sense of identity
