3. Direct Primary A vote held by all members of a political party to nominate a candidate for public office. Exs: Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney

4. 17th Amendment Direct Election of Senators 1913-states that the people, instead of state legislatures, elect US Senators

5. Initiative the rights of citizens (usually by petition) to place a measure or issue before the voters or the legislature for approval

6. Referendum The practice of letting voters accept or reject measures proposed by the legislatures

7. Recall The right that enables voters to remove unsatisfiable elected officials from office

8. 18th Amendment
Prohibition is the legal act of prohibiting the manufacture, storage in barrels, bottles, transportation and sale of alcohol including alcoholic beverages.

9. 19th Amendment Woman Suffrage-women are granted the right to vote (had actually won the right in many state elections-just not national elections until this)

10. 21st Amendment
Ended/Repealed Prohibition
