4 Habits of Highly EFFECTIVE leaders

5 Habit1=Proactively leaders
Take the initiative Be aware of self Responding and making things happen Realize you have freedom to choose Develop knowledge and integrity in choices.

6 Habit2= Begin with the End in Mind
Start with an image or paradigm of the end mind. Have clear understanding of where you are going, where you are, and what is going to take to get to the destination. Leadership comes first.

7 Clear your mind of everything except what YOU will hear and what I will invite you to do. Don’t worry about your schedule, your family, your boy friends, your girl friends, your good and bad experiences. Just focus with me and really open your mind. In your mind’s eye, see yourself going to a funeral of a loved one. Picture your self driving to a funeral parlor or chapel, parking the car, and getting out. As walk inside the building, you notice the flowers, the soft organ music, you see the faces of friends and family you pass along the way.

8 You feel the shared sorrow of losing, the joy of having known, that radiates from the hearts of the people there. As you walk down the front of the room and look inside the casket, you suddenly come face to face with yourself. This is your funeral, 50 years from today. All these people have come to honor you, to express feelings of love and appreciation for your life. As you take a seat and wait for the services to begin, you look at the program in your hand. There are to be four speakers. The first speaker is one of your parents, The second speaker is one of your friends, someone who can give a sense of what you were as a person. The third speaker is one of your teachers. And the fourth is from your church. Kindly open your eyes.

9 Habit3= Put First Things First.
Practice effective self-management day in and day out. Discipline comes from within and is measured by personal integrity. Organize your time and tie weekly goals to your principles, priorities, and vision. All truly successful people make present decisions which help achieve desired outcomes.

10 Habit4= Think Win / Win. Have frame of mind that always seeks to have all parties feel as though they have won--- the benefits to be mutually shared.

14 Habit 5. Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood.
Listen with not only ears, but with eyes and hearts. Then present your ideas logically, clearly, specifically, and in the context of understanding the other person.

15 1) We may be ignoring another person, not really listening at all.
EMPHATIC LISTENING When another persons speaks we’re usually “listening” at one of four levels. 1) We may be ignoring another person, not really listening at all. 2) We may practice pretending. “Yeah, Uh- huh. Right”

16 EMPHATIC LISTENING 3) We may practice selective listening, hearing only certain parts of the conversation. We often do this when we’re listening to the constant chatter of a preschool child.

17 EMPHATIC LISTENING EMPHATIC LISTENING 4) Or we may even practice alternative listening, paying attention and focusing energy on the words that are being said. 5) But very few of us ever practice the fifth level, the highest form of listening, emphatic listening.

18 Habit 6. Synergize. Create new alternatives.
Leave your comfort zones to confront new and unknown challenges. Value differences, respect them, and use them to build on strengths. Discard old scripts, and write new ones.

19 Habit 6. Synergize. Discard old scripts, and write new ones.
