In cooperative/collaborative groups, discuss the question given and cite textual evidence that supports your opinions. Follow the directions below to complete the activity. Get into assigned cooperative/collaborative groups. Using the Accountable Talk rubric, discuss the following question: In “Mother to Son,” the persona of the poem says, “But all the time/ I’se been a-climbin’ on,/And reachin’ landin’s/And turnin’ corners.” Discuss the central metaphor for the poem. Using the iPad app called Corkulous, post your sticky notes of your group comments and thoughts. Be sure to include any textual evidence or clues that support your opinions.
