Your question is critical.  Get this right, and everything else is easy. So, some pointers are: Make it specific Include a reference to the topic/purpose/goal. Should be open-ended and arguable(not a yes or no answer) How to create an Inquiry Question

Helpful hints: Choose something you are interested in (culture, politics, environment, etc.) Question is open to research Able to back up your claim with solid CD from research You don’t already know the answer Don’t write a question because you know the answer- it makes it unauthentic Should have multiple possible answers Clear focus Don’t state your answer in the question. Piece of inspiration: picture, quote, current event, theme, unusual topic/object Brainstorm areas of interest and curiosity based on inspiration Translate areas of interests into questions Research Revisit Question to improve, focus, or adjust it. 11 1. Take 5 minutes to look over topic list with table.
2. Spend a few minutes researching anything that you don't already know – scribble some details in the margins Star your top 10 choices – pick 5 from WW1 and 5 from WW2 Then look at images for each of your choices. Pick your top 4 choices – 2 from WW1 and 2 from WW2 Choosing Our Topic

13 Basic Ideas for Inquiry Questions – How does learning about your topic help us understand the causes, consequences or major turning points of WW1 or WW2. Understanding the event, topic or person – you need to ask questions to help you understand the basic parts of your topic – but this needs to be relevant to the WAR Understanding how the event, topic or person helps us to understand WW1 or WW2 – you need to ask questions that help you understand how your topic connects to WW1 or WW2 Understanding what caused the event, topic or person to happen or act – you need to ask about what led to, caused the event or person to get involved in WW1 or WW2 Understanding how the event, topic or person led to consequences related to WW1 or WW2 – you need to ask how your topic led to consequences related to WW1 or WW2 Topics for Inquiry Questions Write your inquiry questions in the box provided
