Environmental and consumer groups have campaigned against transgenic organisms. “Frankenfoods” Opponents fear traits could spread to wild varieties U.S. Food and Drug Administration declined to require labeling of foods containing GMO’s. New varieties are “substantially equivalent” to related traditionally-bred varieties.
