PE: Our PE days are Thursday and Friday. As the winter months approach please include longer layers in PE kits so that your child can comfortably take part in all activities. Reading: Try reading a variety of text types with your child, including fiction and non-fiction, this will support them with their spelling, writing and comprehensions skills. Library day this term will take place on Friday. You will be pleased to know that reading passports will be given out soon to support your child’s reading at home. Writing: Children have enjoyed writing riddles and could write their own riddle at home about their favourite animal. As our topic is about predators this half term, the children could write a short diary entry from the viewpoint of the predator or its prey. They may also like to continue their work on fact files and create a guide for an animal of their choice. Creative Zone: Use junk modelling to make your own predator. Create a food chain that includes your favourite animal. Sketch a predator in a suitable environment. Papier-mâché an ultimate predator. Maths: We are focusing on number bonds to 20 at the moment so it is the perfect opportunity to practise some quick recall. Such as = 20. It would also be helpful to practise addition and subtraction equations using a method of their choice. Dates: Topic Celebration 16th October 2018 at 2:30pm Parents Evening 17th and 18th October 2018 Weekly practise: Along with your child’s reading passport, we will be making homework books for both literacy and mathematics.
