3 SRHO Requirements Architectural Considerations Protocol Considerations
For WiFi<>WiMAX SRHO use WF WiMAX-WiFi IWK Architecture For WiMAX<>xG (2G/3G/4G) use WF IWK Architecture For other use cases specify the architecture and general mechanism for SRHO Protocol Considerations Define Rx and Ry interfaces for WiFi<>WiMAX SRHO Define R9 interface for WiMAX<>xG SRHO Use MIH Protocol for L3 tunneling. Define complete details in specification. Cell Selection/reselection Define the cell selection and reselection criteria for active/idle mode Define measurement report format and measurement parameters used to trigger Single/dual radio HO between different access networks. Network Discovery and Selection Define mechanisms that assist the mobile device to detect the presence of WiFi IWK Function and IWK services before attaching to the access network (independent of single/dual radio HOs) Define mechanisms/criteria that assist the mobile device to select appropriate WiFi. Specify what is needed from access network. Define mechanisms that assist the mobile device to know if the network supports Single/Dual radio HO Updates to Draft MIH_N2N_xx functions are *NOT* applicable for SRHOs for above cases For SRHOs, clearly specify which existing functions are applicable and which are not 3
