2 Background The original iPhone was released in June 2007, while the more capable iPhone 3G was released in July 2008. iPhone use grew 245% during 2008,up to 8.2% of worldwide mobile phones. ( High visibility and popularity has made the iPhone a tempting target for hackers.

3 Problem The restrictive nature of the App Store has caused many users to resort to unlocking their iPhones, known as jail breaking. In addition to cutting off the user from Apple software updates, jail breaking allows far easier access to iPhone files Apps are unchecked by Apple, allowing for the insertion of back doors.

5 Vulnerabilities in Jailbreaking
Backdoor access via secure shell (ssh) Wi-Fi connection broadcasts iPhone Root password is set by default (Alpine) Allows access admin operations Admin access to iPhone Root file access Insert Delete Change

6 Solution Use the Apple iPhone software development kit to design a trojan horse that would access and transmit personal information while appearing harmless. At the same time we will be looking into different ways we could implement overflows in different data directories to cause the iPhone to crash or to freeze.
