1 WHO AM I? Mixture or Substance
I have a definite and uniform composition. My two parts are physically combined. I have a chemical formula. I am made of a single type of atom. I am made of two or more types of atoms. My composition can vary. My components can be separated by physical means.

2 WHO AM I? Mixture or Substance Substance Mixture Mixture; substance

3 WHO AM I? Mixtures: Heterogeneous or Homogeneous
I exist in more than one phase and settle into layers. My particles scatter light. I am negative for the Tyndall effect. My particles are so small that they are not visible and cannot be filtered out. I am also known as a solution. My components are distinguishable and will separate into phases. I tend to appear cloudy.

4 WHO AM I? Mixtures: Heterogeneous or Homogeneous Heterogeneous

5 WHO AM I? Mixtures: Suspensions, Colloids, or Solutions
My particles are of intermediate size but cannot be filtered out. I often appear cloudy because my particles remain suspended rather than completely dissolving. When I am liquid, I am clear and transparent. My particles are large and usually visible. My particles can be separated by filtration or centrifuging. My composition is uniform and exists in a single phase. My particles are too small for filtration but can be separated by distillation.

6 WHO AM I? Mixtures: Suspensions, Colloids, or Solutions Colloids
Colloids; solutions

7 WHO AM I? Substances: Elements or Compounds
My chemical formula reflects only one type of atom. I am found on the Periodic Table. I can be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means but not by physical means. My properties are very different from those of my separate parts. I have a chemical formula.
