4 Field Trips and Exhibitions
One field trip this year You must have background clearances in order to chaperone-these can take a while, so fill your paperwork out EARLY Destinations-Philadelphia Zoo Two exhibitions each year One evening exhibition/One daytime exhibition Habitat Display-daytime exhibition Balance and Motion-in spring

7 School Books Library We will visit the library every other C day. Each student may check out a book to leave at school or take home with them. Each book must be returned in order to check another book out. Textbooks/Workbook First grade students will occasionally be using workbooks for reading or math. These books may come home once in a while. Students will also receive textbooks that will be returned at the end of the year. These books will not go home

12 Grading The students will be graded as follows in most academic areas:
E-Emerging (Needs a lot of guidance) DV-Developing (Needs some guidance, but gaining independence) P-Proficient (Independent) DS-Distinguished (Independent and can teach others) Math will be graded on a separate rubric Parents are required to attend two parent teacher conferences each year. One will be held in December, and another in March. **If you have not already signed up for your December conference time, do so BEFORE you leave tonight!

15 Characteristics of a 6-7 year old
Full of energy Center of their own world Occasional clumsiness (growth spurts) Difficulty making choices Need the security of rules, routines and boundaries Tattletale stage Begins practicing independent behaviors Sometimes demanding with extreme behaviors (tantrums AGAIN) OPEN TO LEARNING!
