This is the second teacher training module for the Test Administration site. In this module, you will learn how to manage a test session. This module covers the following tasks: How to monitor a student’s test progress How to pause a test, How to stop a test session, How to log out of a test session, and How to approve student print requests First, we will explain how to manage your test session.

3 How to Manage a Test Session
Monitor a student’s test progress View a student’s test settings Pause a test Approve student’s print requests Stop a test session After students have been approved for testing, the Teacher Test Administration Interface will be used to monitor testing progress. All test management is performed from this page. From this page, you can complete the following tasks: Monitor a student’s test progress View a student’s test settings Pause a test Approve student’s print requests Stop a test session First, we will discuss how to monitor a student’s test progress.

4 How to Monitor Student Test Progress
The “Test Status” column shows the number of answered questions on a test, the amount of time a test has been paused, or if a test has been submitted. On the Test Session page, you will see a chart that includes a row for each student in the test session. Each row displays the student’s name, student ID, the test opportunity they are on, the test name, the test’s status, a button to view their test settings, a button to pause the student’s test, and any other available actions for their test. The “Test Status” column displays how many questions a student has answered on a test. The information in the “Test Status” column gives you a sense of how far along a student is in completing a test. This column will show the amount of time a test has been paused, or if a test has been submitted in the test session. Next, we will move onto how to pause a test.

5 How to Pause a Test After you click the pause button:
The student will be logged out and will need to log in again. If the test is paused for an extended period of time, the student may not be able to revisit previously answered items. Only that student’s test status is changed. There are certain circumstances where a student’s test needs to be paused, such as for a bathroom break or a student becoming ill. A student is able to pause their own test. If you need to pause a student’s test, the “Actions” column has a Pause button for each student. A pop-up window will appear notifying you that the student will be logged out of the test if you approve the student’s request to pause the test. If you click OK, the students work is saved, but the student must sign in again to continue testing. If the test is paused for an extended period of time, the student may not be able revisit previously answered items on the test. Click OK to pause the test or Cancel to go back to the Test Sessions page. Using the pause button will only pause the test for that individual student. No other students in the testing session will be disrupted.

6 How to Approve Student Print Requests
Some students in your testing session may have a “Print on Request” setting that allows them to request items to be printed during a test. This is setting has to be set for that student in the Student and User Management System. If a student selects the Print Page option from their global menu during testing, a “Requests” column will appear on your page. In that column, a printer icon will appear as a white printer on an orange background. Click the printer icon to open the Student Print Request window to view and approve the requested item. Print requests allow students to print test items during testing upon teacher approval Clicking the print icon will open a Student Print Request window where you can view and approve the requested item

7 How to Approve Student Print Requests cont.
Use the checkmark or X icon to approve or deny a student’s print request The request tells you each page that is requested You will see a pop-up with the approvals listed with the date and time A list of student print requests will appear in the Student Print Request window. In the “Actions” column, you have the option to approve or deny the print request using the green checkmark or red X icon. Notice the request tells you each page that student requested. Approving the request will open a window displaying the student’s name and student ID on a cover sheet for the page. If the student’s information is correct, click Print, then OK to send the request to the printer. You will see a pop-up with the approved print requests listed. If you deny the print request, there is no further action needed and the print request will not be processed.

8 How to Stop a Test Session
Pauses active tests Logs student out of session Only stop a test if students have submitted their test or testing timeslot is over Unlike pausing a test, stopping a test session impacts every student taking a test in the test session. You want to stop a test only when all students have completed their test or when your testing timeslot is over. Stopping a test session will automatically pause all active tests and log students out of the test session. If a student has not submitted a test when the test session has stopped, the teacher must create a new test session, select the test, and provide a new session ID for that student to return to a test. No data will be lost between these two test sessions. Please see the “How to Create and Start a Test Session” training for more details on creating a session. To stop a test, click on the red Stop sign icon located next to the Session ID. A pop-up message will appear asking you to confirm that you are stopping the test. Click OK to stop the session. Next, we will discuss how to log out of a test session.

9 How to Log Out of a Test Session
Once a session is over, you will need to log out of the system. The Logout button, located in the upper right corner of your test session page, will log you out and end a test session if it has not already been stopped. A pop-up message will appear asking you to confirm you want to log out of the Test Administration site. Click Exit to log out of the site. To go back, click Cancel. Once you successfully log out, student tests that have not been submitted will be paused and the session will end for all students. If a student is still actively testing and they attempt to move to another question, a pop-up message will tell students the session is not available for testing, their previous work will be saved and they will be logged out. Click Logout at the top of your screen Confirm that you want to log out and end the test session
