Fig 1 (A) The Enclose II device is set on the aorta according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Briefly, the lower arm of the device is inserted into the aorta. The hexagonally shaped membrane at the tip of the lower arm is opened. Then, the upper arm on the outside of the aorta is lowered into place until a watertight seal is achieved. (B) The saline solution is injected through the small plastic tube arising from the device, through which the blood originally returned. A small cut is made after the aorta is expanded from inside by gently injecting saline. Next, an adequate size punch hole is created with a provided puncher while saline injection is maintained. (Ao = aortic wall.) The Annals of Thoracic Surgery , e581-e582DOI: ( /j.athoracsur ) Copyright © 2016 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Terms and Conditions
