Background HUD Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Application Overview: The Department of Community and Economic Development applied for and received a third HUD Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant in the amount of $3,400,000. 88% of the housing stock in the City of Cincinnati is at-risk for lead-based paint hazards Lead is a potent neurotoxin that causes hyperactivity, reduced IQ, increased tendency for violent behavior; Children under the age of 6 are most at-risk The City of Cincinnati ranks 2nd behind Cleveland in the State of Ohio for having the highest incidences of childhood lead poisoning The Department of Community and Economic Development will be partnering with the Cincinnati Health Department to administer grant
