2 Bible Teaching on Hell Is Not Always Welcomed
Deny that God will punish. Believe suffering is this life. Say that it is annihilation. Claim that it is not eternal.

3 Modern Teaching On Hell
Eternal Hell Modern Teaching On Hell People are noticing the lack of teaching on hell..

8 "...I think people have a hard time believing God is going to allow people to burn in literal fire forever. I think the fire that is mentioned in the Bible is a burning thirst for God that can never be quenched." Billy Graham

10 “..the wicked, following whatever degree and duration of pain God may justly inflict, will finally and truly die, perish and become extinct for ever and ever” (p. 425) Ed Fudge 1983

11 The main focus of the work is the final judgment and fate of the unrighteous, according to what the New Testaments says and does not say. Hailey reaches the interesting conclusion that for the wicked the soul ceases to exist, as it is destroyed in hell.” Foreword by LaGard Smith of David Lipscomb University. Homer Hailey

12 Disbelief among Brethren
“If the wicked die, then they do not ‘live forever’ in hell fire....the wicked will perish or be destroyed (after being punished in hell fire),...Nowhere in Scripture will you find the idea that God bestows upon the wicked everlasting (unending) life or immortality so that he can then torment them forever in hell fire.” Leroy Garrett, “Is Hell Fire Endless?”, Restoration Review, p. 363.

13 Consequences of Modern thought? Denial of immortal soul.
Explain away other Bible fundamentals. Worship \ serve God in any way. Moral decline. Unbridled Sin Rising Suicides

14 Lessons A Lost Man Learned Too Late!
Luke 16:19-31 Luke 16:19-31

15 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented…

16 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:19-31

17 LESSONS A LOST MAN LEARNED TOO LATE
The "Parable?" Of The Rich Man And Lazarus Luke 16:19-31 Luke 16:19-31 How do we know it is a “parable? Heading? Not Inspired! Character of Parables: In the parables of Jesus, earthly things are used with which to set forth some spiritual truth. A parable is an extended illustration. To be an illustration the hearers had to be familiar with the facts told. Therefore, the story of the rich man and Lazarus does not fit the requirements of a parable in any particular. If it is a parable, then what truth is taught? What is represented? Does the rich man represent the Jews? Then all Jews are doomed, for he was lost! Does the poor man represent the Gentiles? Then all the Gentiles will be saved, for Lazarus was saved. And what or who would the dogs and the 5 brethren at home represent?

18 LESSONS A LOST MAN LEARNED TOO LATE
The "Parable?" Of The Rich Man And Lazarus Luke 16:19-31 Luke 16:19-31 Would Jesus take events in the next world the disciples were not familiar with at all, to illustrate things occurring in this world? If it were a parable, it would not subtract from the truths taught for the Lord did not suppose a case that would never occur. If He supposed a case, it was all founded in reality. This is the case with all types and shadows. They all have their foundation in reality. There never was a shadow without a substance. Never a counterfeit without a genuine. All the parables of Jesus are founded in reality. He never would have said, “I am the vine; you are the branches,” if there had not be a real vine and branches.

19 LESSONS A LOST MAN LEARNED TOO LATE
The "Parable?" Of The Rich Man And Lazarus Luke 16:19-31 Luke 16:19-31 “…we do not admit that the passage is a parable. It bears no marks of a parable. Quite the contrary when the passage is analyzed. Please note that Jesus emphatically declared in no uncertain terms, “There was a certain rich man....” Question: Was there? Jesus answers, “There was....” Our Lord declared in no uncertain terms, “...there was a certain beggar named Lazarus....” Question: Was there? Jesus answers, “There was....” These two men lived on earth, died, and according to their conduct on earth, went to their respective places in the hadean world to await the end of the world, the resurrection, and the Judgment. Our Lord selected them to teach us a lesson regarding what transpired at death for the wicked and the blest”. (1999, pp ).

The poor man was very poor! Very poor, but saved!

27 Important things to consider...
Rich man & Lazarus Wealth and prosperity… Poor/Needy “I’d rather be a poor man and go to heaven than a rich man and go to hell” No one is saved simply because they are poor any more than one is condemned because they are rich! The rich man was not condemned because he was rich any more than the poor man saved because he was poor! One can be just as poor as Lazarus and be greedy while another can be as rich as the rich man and truly be blessed!

28 Important things to consider...
IT IS NOT... Wealth and prosperity… Where our focus should be! 17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life I Timothy 6:17-19. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows I Timothy 6:10. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26.

Luke 16:19-31 This torment was permanent!

32 Important things to consider...
IT IS NOT... Annihilation! or for a limited time! Punishment is eternal… Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25:41. 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Mark 9:44-45. 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; II Thessalonians 1:8-9.

IT IS NOT... We learn about Repentance... A continuing to live as I want! 1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish Luke 13:1-3. But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance Acts 26:20. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost Acts 2:38.
