Review HOUDINI Protocol daily to access for need of urinary catheter. If none
of the HOUDINI Criteria apply, ask for an order to dc the foley on rounds (or ASAP)
HOUDINI Criteria
Hematuria
Obstructions, urinary
Urologic surgery
Decubitus ulcer – open sacral or perineal wound in incontinent patient
I & O critical for patient management or hemodynamic instability
No code / comfort care / hospice care
Immobility due to physical constraints (e.g., Unstable fracture)
