3 Figure 2 The δ13C and δ15N Stable-Isotope Values
MA (n = 29), Dorset Palaeoeskimo (n = 2), and precontact and historic Beothuk (n = 18) individual δ13C and δ15N values indicate that marine and mixed marine-terrestrial diets were dominant. Some regional variation is apparent in the MA values between Newfoundland and mainland Labrador. Beothuk values separate between early historic and terminal Beothuk period individuals. The isotopic values of prey groups reflect those measured in archaeological fauna from Newfoundland. The figure includes published data from Jelsma [10] and Kuch et al. [11] (see Table S1 for details). Analytical error: δ13C = 0.1‰; δ15N = 0.2‰. See also Figure S3 and Figure S4. Current Biology  , e11DOI: ( /j.cub ) Copyright © Terms and Conditions

4 Figure 3 Geographic Origin and Phylogenetic Relationship of Ancient Indigenous Americans Left: publicly available mitochondrial genomes (gray circles). Center: geographic location and population affinity of 74 independent mitochondrial genomes generated as part of this study. Right: partial MCC tree of 153 ancient mitochondrial genomes from the Americas; MA samples are indicated in blue, Beothuk in red, and Dorset Palaeoeskimo in green. The yellow bar highlights the approximate coalescence range for MA and Beothuk lineages from haplogroups A, C, and D. Nodes with posterior probabilities of ≥0.9 are denoted with black stars.
