1 Developments post 2015 and options for the future role of IHP+
IHP+ Steering Committee 12 Dec 2014

2 SDGs, development cooperation post 2015: current status of discussion
Post 2015 agenda clearer but not final until September 2015; 1 health SDG Broadly consistent position on financing the SDGs emerging: aid is a small part of financing development in general; financing needs to come from private and public sources, domestic and international Reports on financing the SDGs consistently emphasize the need to make development cooperation more effective, through implementing Paris/Busan principles Little specificity on how this will affect aid architecture in health. In the short term at least, international public finance for health will remain fragmented across multiple channels and financing modalities. Role of BRICS Competing pressures will continue: for coordination; for system and individual capacity building; for visible results

3 IHP+ current roles, achievements and strengths
Scope and content of IHP+ work summarised in the seven behaviours; involves all stakeholders Three types of action through IHP+ Political and organizational action Approaches and tools Accountability for progress and results

4 IHP+: current roles, achievements and challenges
Achievements and strengths Visibility and advocacy maintained for an important agenda Spotlight kept on accountability of all partners for progress and results IHP+ tools widely accepted and used Strong and growing country engagement Opportunity to engage less 'like-minded' donors increased Challenges Progress slower than expected IHP+ not had enough political traction at global / agency HQ level, though potential increased with Steering Committee, links with GHAL Linking organisational change to outcomes – IHP+ success in demonstrating and communicating links modest

5 Future options for IHP+
Comprehensive IHP+: continue current strategic directions, updated to reflect post 2015 priorities Slimline IHP+: continue current strategic directions, updated to reflect post 2015 priorities, but reduced work plan that focuses on selected functions IHP+++: merge with another partnership or initiative, more outcome oriented End IHP+: key functions continued in individual agencies

6 The Steering Committee is invited to discuss these options for IHP+.
