Climate Camp 4th to 11th August Previous protests Implications for Kent Police Strategic Aims An environmental group using the title ‘Camp for Climate Change’ has announced campaigners will attend the Kingsnorth Power Station site on 9th August 2008 for a day of mass protest. This is part of a national week of protest by campaigners. Kent Police has liaised with E.On to discuss the planned protest, security of the site and legal options. The previous year’s protest at Heathrow required a significant number of police officers. Plans are in place to ensure that an appropriate number of Kent Police officers are available over the period. This has involved the cancellation of rest days throughout the county. The main aims are to protect life, prevent offences and keep the peace, minimise disruption to the community and facilitate peaceful and lawful assembly. Any criminal activity will be dealt with robustly.
