2 Learning Objectives 7.0.2

3 Agenda 7.0.3

4 Unit 7.1 Danger Threats: The First of Three Conditions Leading the Child to Be Unsafe 7.1.4

5 Learning Objectives 7.1.5

6 What Leads to Child Trauma
Danger Threat Exists Child is Vulnerable Caregiver Protective Capacities Insufficient = Child Unsafe 7.4.17 This is to be replaced with the “real” safety formula pic

7 What is a Danger Threat? A family condition, which if not controlled, is having or could have a harmful effect on a dependent child. 7.1.7

8 Activity: Do Tell 7.1.8 15 minute walk about to define the terms, followed by the instructor giving full definitions.

9 Identifying Impending Danger Threats
Could the child soon be unsafe? Is the child is in a continuous or pervasive state of danger? Is the child in a family condition which could likely lead to present danger, but has not yet occurred? 7.1.7

10 Activity: What’s the Difference?
7.1.8 15 minute walk about to define the terms, followed by the instructor giving full definitions.

11 Determines If Child is Safe or Unsafe
The Safety Equation Danger Threat + Child is Vulnerable + Caregiver Protective Capacities = Determines If Child is Safe or Unsafe 7.4.17 This is to be replaced with the “real” safety formula pic

12 Unit 7.2 Child Vulnerability: The Second of Three Conditions Leading the Child to Be Unsafe 7.2.9

13 Learning Objectives 7.2.10

14 Is the Child Safe or Unsafe?
The Safety Equation Danger Threat + Child is Vulnerable + Caregiver Protective Capacities = Is the Child Safe or Unsafe? 7.4.17 This is to be replaced with the “real” safety formula pic

15 Vulnerable Child There are areas of a child’s life leading the child to depend on a caregiver for safety and or protection. The child is exposed to circumstances that she or he is powerless to manage. 18 Determines If Child is Safe or Unsafe
Child Safety Equation Danger Threat + Child is Vulnerable + Caregiver Protective Capacities = Determines If Child is Safe or Unsafe 7.4.17 This is to be replaced with the “real” safety formula pic
