4 Collaborating e-Infrastructures
TWGRID In terms of the landscape of worldwide e-Science infrastructure, from the EGEE perspective, most of the current production grids in the world are in collaboration to form a global e-infrastructure for broader e-Science applications. Around 80 countries are involved in this global efforts. TWGrid is acting as the the representative of Asia Federation and we are keen to invite and support more asia pacific partners to join this global e-Science world. What I mean to production is ... of course there are other grid endeavors in the world, the key is how to collaborate with each other and have a production infrastructure and services. “Production” = Reliable, sustainable, with commitments to quality of service Potential for linking ~80 countries

6 Introduction to EuAsiaGrid
To pave the way towards an Asian e-Science Grid Infrastructure, in synergy with the other European Grid initiatives in Asia, namely EGEE-III via its Asia Federation, and both EUChinaGRID and EU-IndiaGRID projects

7 Main objectives 1/2 Identify and aggregate scientific communities which can benefit from the use of state-of-art Grid technologies. Disseminate EGEE middleware in Asian countries by means of public events and written and multimedia materials.

8 Main objectives 2/2 Provide training resources and organize training events for potential and actual Grid users. Support the scientific applications and create a human network of scientific communities leveraging from the eScience Grid infrastructure.

10 Work packages of EUAsiaGrid

11 WP1- Project administrative and technical management
Financial Management Administrative Management Technical Management

12 WP2 – Requirement capture and coordination policy definition
First Phase: WP aims to collect from the scientific communities of the Asian countries their computing and storage requirements, in order to understand which scientific domains and applications could profit more from the use of the EGEE Grid middleware. Second Phase: WP will define a roadmap towards a common e-Science Asian Grid infrastructure, in strict coordination with the other European initiatives in Asia, namely EGEE-III via its Asia Federation, and both EUChinaGRID and EU-IndiaGRID projects.

13 WP3 – Support of scientific applications
The selected applications belong to the following fields:

14 WP4 –Dissemination For most communities the first contact with EUAsiaGRID and EGEE will be through the dissemination activities. To contribute in making the yearly ISGC symposium a successful forum to exchange information between European and Asian partners. Participations to international events as OGF and EGEE conferences is a key point to publicise the project to exchange experiences and expertise and to look for new liaisons.

15 WP5 –Training The training events will contribute further disseminating the project and the benefits of the grid technologies. Training will provide detailed technical information to the potential users and give them the skills to use the grid computing infrastructure allowing them to learn and practice. The training sessions will be complemented with further training materials, and advanced distance training techniques including the availability of recorded training sessions.

16 The planned results of the project 1/2
1. Offer an effective answer to the demanding computing and storage needs of several common EU-Asia research projects. 2. Endorse the induction of new user communities to the eScience Grid infrastructure. 3. Enhance the scientific communities and applications running the EGEE middleware.

17 The planned results of the project 2/2
4. Build partnerships between European and Asian scientific communities, to contribute to the scientific achievements in a global perspective and at a world class level. 5. Coordinate a common policy (agreement?) towards a common e-Science infrastructure with the other European Grid initiatives in Asia, namely EGEE-III via its Asia Federation, and both EUChinaGRID and EU-IndiaGRID.
