1 A View of the District

2 Objectives Show the effects that completion of 5/6 addition will have on the elementary schools. Arrowhead Audubon Eagleville Woodland Worcester Outline room utilization of 5/6 building after its completion. Present an overview of the addition vs. existing structure utilization. Walkthrough 2010 & beyond, a look ahead. Questions.

3 Arrowhead Elementary School
I. Will gain 4 rooms when grade 5 is moved. Two portable classrooms will be removed. Math and reading will be moved from portables into two vacated classrooms. Speech and language will go from a converted storage area to a vacated classroom. Other programs (ESL, Gifted, OT, PT) in less than suitable spaces are also under consideration for movement.

8 Audubon Elementary School
II. Will gain 3 rooms when grade 5 is moved. Four portable classrooms will be removed. Reading, ESL and grade 1 will move from portables to vacated classrooms (grade 5 is housed in a portable). An ongoing need for one portable classroom remains.

9 Audubon This portable classroom houses reading support.

11 Audubon This portable houses a first grade class.

12 Audubon This converted closet serves as a math support classroom.

13 Eagleville Elementary School
III. Will gain 4 rooms when grade 5 is moved. Speech therapy will go from the hallway to a vacated classroom. ESL will move from the roof access closet to a vacated classroom. The reading specialist will go from a converted space to a vacated classroom. An additional/new special education classroom (life skills) will likely occupy a classroom space.

14 Eagleville Speech/ language instruction is delivered at the end of a hallway in Eagleville. - Photo removed for student confidentiality reasons. -

15 Eagleville ESL instruction is delivered in the roof access closet, which has been converted to a classroom. - Photo removed for student confidentiality reasons. -

16 Eagleville Reading support takes place in a converted conference room off of the main office. - Photo removed for student confidentiality reasons. -

17 Woodland Elementary School
IV. Renovated to accommodate K-4. When the building is complete, 10 portables will be removed There will be one open classroom after grade 5 grade moves. Currently, Kindergarten overflow is at Audubon – one additional section of Kindergarten may occupy this empty space.

18 Woodland This is a reading support room that is currently used as a Kindergarten classroom. - Photo removed for student confidentiality reasons. -

19 Woodland The challenge program and math support share space in one half of a divided classroom. - Photo removed for student confidentiality reasons. -

20 Woodland The other half of that classroom serves autistic support students. - Photo removed for student confidentiality reasons. -

21 Worcester Elementary School
V. Will gain 4 rooms when grade 5 is moved. Music will be moved from the stage to a vacated classroom. Grade 4 learning support will go from a shared classroom to a vacated classroom. Reading may move from a conference room to a vacated classroom along with ESL from the library conference room. Math support will go from the library conference room to a vacated classroom.

23 Worcester Grade 4 learning support takes place in a divided classroom.

The following are under consideration: Added technology instruction/space in the elementary schools All day Kindergarten Additional special education programs or classes The use of portables for alternative education at the high school Taking back costly programs Remain flexible, ex. two Worcester autistic support classrooms from Woodland
