Everyone is meant to earn the same amount of money.
No private property. Everything is meant to be shared by everyone.

Today, this classroom represents a communist nation called Newmanville.
Mrs.Newman is the leader of this country.
All of you work for government controlled factories.
At this moment in time, your nation is militarizing (preparing for war) with another country.

TASK: Your govt. run factory has 3 minutes to design the best military boot that you can! It must be realistic and useful for battle!
You don’t need to set a price or create a brand.
All of your companies are called Newmanville Corporation and the government will determine prices for your products.
The only materials that you may use are rubber, leather, and cotton.
The only dyes (colors) that you have to work with are white and black since the military currently has an abundance of these.

Private property.
Supply and demand controls the markets.
Govt. controls SOME aspects of the economy. Everyone helps pay for public services like:
Public schools, fire department, government health care
Government controls all aspects of the economy.
In theory, the govt. should be dissolved but this has never happened!

Little incentive to work very hard or gain a high level education since everyone gets equal pay.
