1 Julius Caesar Act I Review of Quotes

2 “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars/ But in ourselves, that we are underlings.”
Cassius says this to Brutus. Act I. ii.

3 “I shall remember: When Caesar says ‘Do this’ it is performed.”
Antony says this. Act I. ii.

4 “I saw Mark Antony offer him a crown…he put it by once.”
Casca says this to Cassius. Caesar denies the crown three times. Act I. ii.

5 “Let me have men about me that are fat,/ Sleek-headed men, and such as sleep o’nights.
Caesar says this to Antony. He notices a “mean and hungry” look in Cassius’ eye. Cassius does not smile. He might consider someone wants to kill him, but his pompous behavior will not allow him to admit it. Act I. ii.

6 “And so it is. For this time I will leave you
“And so it is. For this time I will leave you./ Tomorrow, if you please to speak with me,/ I will come home to you…” Brutus says this to Cassius. Act I. ii.

7 “What means this shouting
“What means this shouting? I do fear the people/ Choose Caesar as their king.” Brutus says this to Cassius in Act I. ii. Readers will notice Brutus is quickly changing his mind, and he will soon agree to kill Caesar.

8 “What should be in that Caesar
“What should be in that Caesar? Why should that name be sounded more than yours?” Cassius says this to Brutus. Cassius convinces Brutus that he is most worthy of being dictator. Act I. ii.

9 “I know where I will wear this dagger then
“I know where I will wear this dagger then. Cassius from bondage will deliver Cassius.” Cassius says this to Casca, but remember Cassius is saying he will kill himself if Caesar does become dictator. He is speaking about himself in third person. Act I. iii.
