6 PROSPERO – Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews
Research Methods Fields Searches* URL to search strategy Condition or domain studied* Participants/population* Intervention(s), exposure(s)* Comparator(s)/control* Types of study to be included initially* Context Primary outcome(s)* Secondary outcomes* Data extraction, (selection and coding) Risk of bias (quality) assessment* Strategy for data synthesis* Analysis of subgroups or subsets Booth et al., 2012 Registering SRs and MAs in PROSPERO should  reduce unplanned duplication of systematic reviews and provide transparency in the review process with the aim of minimizing reporting bias. My search on this topic received 2,000 hits. A search on meta-analysis AND systematic review received 766,000

7 PROSPERO - In addition, by requiring the documentation of a priori methods, the register facilitates increased transparency by allowing readers of SRs to compare methods, outcomes, and analyses carried out with those planned in advance and judge whether changes might have impacted the results

8 Further standardization - GINDER
Prospective systematic review registration: perspective from the Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) Philip Van der Wees, Amir Qaseem, Minna Kaila, Guenter Ollenschlaeger, Richard Rosenfeld and the Board of Trustees of the Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) Systematic Reviews20121:3 DOI: / ©  Van der Wees et al; licensee BioMed Central Ltd. 2012 Received: 27 September 2011 Accepted: 9 February 2012 Published: 9 February 2012 This group recently launched a Data Extraction Resource (GINDER) to present and share data extracted from individual studies in a standardized template. PROSPERO and GINDER are complementary tools to enhance collaboration between guideline developers and systematic reviewers to allow for alignment of activities and a reduction in duplication of effort.

9 PRISMA-P (Moher et al., 2015) Investigators should prepare a review protocol in advance of registering it in PROSPERO so that details requiring further consideration may be thought through in advance, avoiding the need for multiple amendments to registration information. PRISMA-P items were derived largely from the PRISMA checklist and items of the PROSPERO register, in order to facilitate seamless registration.

13 Beyond SRs & MAs: Overviews of Reviews
Thomson et al., 2011 Syntheses of SRs are becoming increasingly common, both within and outside the Cochrane Collaboration. These syntheses have a variety of names, including ‘umbrella reviews,’ ‘overviews of reviews,’ and ‘meta-reviews.’ Each of these terms has its adherents and has been used in recent publications.
