1 Do’s and Don’t of a Good PowerPoint Presentation
By Mr. Risney

2 Do’s Limit your presentation to 7-10 Min whenever possible
Limit your presentation to 7-10 slides whenever possible Use light text – dark background or dark text – light background Use colors that contrast a lot-----avoid reds on blue or black backgrounds, same with yellows on white

3 Do’s (continued) Use a rough storyboard to plan out your presentation first (what will be on each slide) Finish your bullets first----then graphics----then finally, special effects Use as large a text as possible for your bullets (easy reading) Use no more than 3 to 4 bullets per slide

4 Do’s (continued again)
Use at least one graphic on each slide Use special effects on your bullets and slide transitions to add emphasis to your point Make your special effects and sounds appropriate for the material you are presenting and sequence them logically

5 Don’ts Ever be BORING!!! Present with the same monotone voice
Ever use just one source for your facts----especially don’t rely on the Internet as your only source Use hard-to-read fonts

6 Don’ts (continued) Write a bullet in complete sentences----instead use short, quick and hard hitting phrase/fact Use too many special effects----will distract the viewer from your presentation and they will remember more about the special effects than they will about what you were trying to get across Vary your special effects to the point that every slide has a different special effect-----too distracting
