54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

4. The Resurrection
According to the Bible Jesus was placed in his tomb on Friday afternoon.
On Sunday female followers went to the tomb to prepare Jesus’ body for proper burial.
The body of Jesus was nowhere to be found and word got back to Jesus’ disciples.
At the tomb the women are told that Jesus is risen and they should pass on this ‘good news’.
Teacher note – Shabbat is the holy day that starts Friday evening in Judaism and prohibits the dressing and preparation of the dead so Jesus was let in the cave like tomb until Shabbat had passed hence the women at the tomb on Sunday
