Bacteria
Campylobacter is a genus of gram negative spirillum that settles in the intestines of the host causing cramping and severe diarrhea and vomiting—can be fatal if untreated
Escherichia coli are gram negative rods that settle in intestines—contracted through fecal contamination of water supply
Protozoa
Giardia lamblia is unicellular organism commonly found in animals drinking contaminated water—cysts are very resistant
Cryptosporidium parvum is often transmitted in fecal contaminated water from large animal farms—multiply by the hundreds of thousands with oocyst stage—can be fatal
