1 Spiritual Maturity Psalms 131 06/24/2018

2 1 My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. 2 But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. 3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore. (Psalms 131:1-3)

3 1 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. (1 Co 3:1-2)

4 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! (Hebrews 5:12)

5 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (Hebrews 5:13-14)

6 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 Peter 2:2-3)

7 The Provision that God Made for David.

8 The Provision that God Made for David.
It’s spiritual rather than natural.

9 The Provision that God Made for David.
It’s spiritual rather than natural. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. (Phil 4:11)

10 It is inward rather than outward.

11 It is inward rather than outward.
It is tested by loss.

12 How Do We Live Maturely?

13 How Do We Live Maturely? Guard the ambitions of the heart.

14 How Do We Live Maturely? Guard the ambitions of the heart. Control the preoccupations of the mind.

15 How Do We Live Maturely? Guard the ambitions of the heart. Control the preoccupations of the mind. Refuse to be preoccupied with things beyond understanding.

16 10 Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant
10 Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God. (Isaiah 50:10)

17 11 But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment. (Isaiah 50:11)
