1. Goals For our next activity we will be writing some goals.
A goal needs to be specific and measurable.
Think about:
How will you know you have accomplished your goal?
What will your accomplished goal look like?

2. Make your goals… Non-example: be able to run long distances
Good example: be able to run a marathon
Better example: be able completely run a marathon without stopping
Best example: be able to be able completely run a marathon without stopping in under 4 hours by age 30.

3. Goals and time
In your notebook (or piece of paper to be glued in later) write four goals:
Goal 1: immediate term: accomplished within two weeks
Goals 2: short term: accomplished within the quarter
Goal 3: long term: accomplished by the end of the semester
Goal 4: extended term: accomplished by the end of the year
Get your goals approved by me—I am checking to make sure they are school appropriate

4. Post it!
Now take a post-it from the ones provided and write EACH of your five goals on a DIFFERENT post-it.
You can put your name on if you would like, but do not have to
Post your goals on the butcher paper around the room that has the goal number and time

5. Accomplish it!
When you have accomplished your goal, come back and take down your post-it
Have pride in the fact that you did it!

6. Extended goals Think back about what you have accomplished this year
Did you do more than you thought you could?
Did you find that setting the goal in the SMART manner made it easier to accomplish?
Did you find yourself continuing to set goals even though I wasn’t making you?
Do you feel proud of yourself, or do you feel you could have done better?
WHY?
Now think forward in life:
Goal 5: life term: accomplished after finishing school career (college high school)
