4. Pol Pot 1928-1998 Real name: Saloth Sar
Gave himself the war name of Pol Pot in 1975 when he gained control of the Khmer Rouge (short for potential politic)
Educated in France
Born to a middle class family and never knew the agrarian lifestyle
Believed in the Maoist idea that the farmers were the real working class (old people)
All others were bourgeoisie (new people)

5. Pol Pot
After the fall of the Khmer Rouge in 1979, Pol Pot found refuge in the North of Cambodia, Thailand and in China
In the 1990s, the Khmer Rouge had a mass dissertion and also placed Pol Pot under house arrest
He died in 1998 shortly after the Khmer Rouge declared they would turn him over to authorities.
