6 Interpretation Request #17
May 2009 doc.: IEEE /0602r0 May 2009 Interpretation Request #17 Request received from Paul Kimelman on clause (power management), noting that power saving is inefficient for wireless sensor networks: …[T]here is a wide range of possible behaviors that makes it very hard for systems trying to conserve power, especially in the embedded domain, including WSN [wireless sensor networks]. …[T]he optimal solution is to let the STA make a "lease" of space on the AP with an agreement to what happens if that is exceeded (newer data packets ignored, older ones ignored, disassociation). This would be very clean for all parties and since it would be negotiated … both sides would be clear what the behavior was. Matthew Gast, Trapeze Networks Matthew Gast, Trapeze Networks

7 Interpretation Reponse #17 (Full text in document 11-09/0531r0)
May 2009 doc.: IEEE /0602r0 May 2009 Interpretation Reponse #17 (Full text in document 11-09/0531r0) Designation Number: 17 Classification: Unambiguous Relevant Clauses: Response: The specification of IEEE Std is unambiguous and does not allow for negotiation of power save parameters upon association. Matthew Gast, Trapeze Networks Matthew Gast, Trapeze Networks

8 Plans for July Meeting and Beyond
May 2009 doc.: IEEE /0602r0 May 2009 Plans for July Meeting and Beyond Goal: Comment resolution for (recirculation?) letter ballot One teleconference to organize comments on June 29 Reminder: TGmb editorial team is still seeking reviewers to assist in checking draft changes See 11-09/0250r0 for process and time requirements Matthew Gast, Trapeze Networks Matthew Gast, Trapeze Networks
