Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences Program Frequently Asked Questions What are the goals of the Bachelor of Science in Radiographic Sciences (BSRS) program? Upon completion of the program, graduates will hold a bachelor’s degree and have a strong foundation of higher education in the field of radiography. In addition, graduates will identify professional leadership skills, develop advanced knowledge of effective health care service delivery, and analyze behavioral, social, and cultural trends that influence management in health care settings. Is the program accredited? The BSRS program has been approved by the State of Arizona and the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), Pima Medical Institute’s institutional accrediting agency. What are the requirements to enroll in the program? Applicants must have their ARRT registration and must transfer a total of 70 semester credits of specific coursework from a U.S. Radiography program at the postsecondary level. The content of these 70 transfer credits shall consist of 15 general education credits and 55 radiography technical credits. Additional transfer credit may be accepted as determined on an individual basis by the Program Director and the Online Education Director. If an applicant does not have the required 70 qualifying semester credits, Pima Medical Institute has additional online courses that may assist in qualifying for the program. How long is the program? The BSRS program consists of 60 weeks of content, or 70 weeks including semester breaks. Individual completion time may vary by student depending on individual progress and credits transferred. What does “fast track” mean? By transferring in additional general education credits beyond the required 70 qualifying credits needed to enroll in the BSRS program, an applicant may be able to reduce the time it takes to complete the program. Transfer of credit is determined on an individual basis by the Program Director and Online Director. What are the class sizes? Individual class size will never exceed 25 students. Do I have to be online at any particular time? Each course has specific due dates for papers, quizzes, and assignments, but you have the flexibility to work when it’s convenient for you. Are there any externships required? There are no clinicals or externships in the BSRS program. Students may be required to accomplish work-related tasks within the program. How much does the program cost? Tuition for the program is set at $300 per credit. Students transferring 70 credits will be required to complete 50 credits. The total cost of tuition is $15,000, and the total cost of the program is $16,790. Actual costs may be less if additional credits are transferred. Is financial aid available? Financial aid is available for those who qualify, and our financial aid representatives are available to help you navigate the process of financing your education. Will I have a chance to experience the online classroom before classes begin? Every student will complete an online orientation before they begin a program. The orientation is set up to allow students to practice using all of the tools they’ll use in an actual class. It also helps ensure that students have the right computer and software. What types of jobs can I get from this degree? The BSRS degree prepares graduates for management and leadership roles in their field. They can also branch into other areas such as medical or equipment sales or education which will require a bachelor’s degree or higher. Do you offer job placement assistance? All graduates from Pima Medical Institute have access to job placement assistance. How much money can I expect to make after I graduate? According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual earnings of Radiologic Technologists were $54,340 in There may be no additional compensation to a student’s current hourly wage. However, students obtaining a BSRS degree may have avenues for possible advancement in their current place of employment or other opportunities with other organizations. Revised
