1. Everybody TALKS about the weather, but can they DO anything about it?
People talk about the weather but they can’t really do anything about it. Likewise, many classes in Language Development describe linguistic structure and the milestones of language development….
but they don’t really tell us what we can do about it. In this lecture series, we will devote considerable time in identifying the processes that support and maintain the growth and use of language.
By doing this, we can then identify the many windows of opportunities that caretakers can take advantage of, and the appropriate techniques they can apply to facilitate the development of language.
Surprisingly, given the innate nature of language, there is much that can be done--if we know what to look for and what to do.
