44 Making future decisions with accurate & up to date information
What sorts of things does a ... do? What do you do to become a …? What if I don’t get the ATAR I need? What happens if I change my mind and don’t have the prerequisites to complete the course of my choice? What do I do when I leave School? What job suits me? What occupations can I get if I study…?

Talk to your teenager: help them find out who they are, what drives them and what interests them? Help them to explore their preferred future and how they may work towards it (work experience, networks). Help them articulate how they want to contribute to their world. What is important to them? Discuss the changes that are happening in our community, country, the world. Tell them your stories, your experiences. Support your child and reassure them that it’s okay to be uncertain.
