1 ACTi ALPR - Automatic License Plate Recognition
Welcome to another ACTi feature presentation. In the following, we will discuss the ACTi Automatic License Plate Recognition Server, or ALPR for short. V

2 ALPR in ACTi Unified Solution
Live-view or playback Video Stream Within the ACTi Unified solution, (CLICK) the ALPR is situated here, as a standalone module of our Intelligent Video Software package.

3 How the ACTi ALPR Server works
Video footage with time, location, and event! Evidence Received!! Live-view Video Stream Live-view Video Stream When the live stream recorded from the cameras goes to the NVR, the server then send the video footage out to the ALPR server to be analyzed and reviewed. Likewise, the ALPR server can also analyze video directly fed from a camera, without the involvement of an NVR.

4 Applications Drive-Thru Parking Lot Community Gate Gas Station
Common applications of LPR may include: Parking Lot Drive-Thru Some common applications of license plate recognition may include, but not limited to: (Click) Parking Lots (Click) Drive-Thrus (Click) Community Gates (Click) And Gas Stations Community Gate Gas Station

5 Setting up The Scene Camera Placement
While placing the camera, license plate angles should be considered with respect to the camera, and over-exposure due to headlights should be avoided While the ALPR is an invaluable tool, one should consider camera placement to maintain good quality images in order to maximize accuracy. (Click) The camera should be placed to avoid extreme angles that may cause the plate to appear irregularly shaped in the view. (Click) Likewise, the camera also should not be placed directly head on with the car’s headlights (Click) As such, it will be most beneficial to keep the camera within a 10- and 45-degrees angle from the road

6 Setting up The Scene Camera Placement Motion Blur Too Dark
Fast-moving vehicles are not ideal for license plate recognition. Dark scenes are ill advised due to possible motion blur. Controlled vehicle speeds are also crucial in successfully capturing license plates. Locations that slow down or stop vehicles, such as speed bumps or gates, make the best locations for capturing plates Nighttime motion is particularly detrimental to the quality of the letters captured. The use of strong ambient light is highly recommended. Motion Blur Too Dark

7 Setting up The Algorithm
Algorithm Setup The ALPR Server is configurable based on the environment and location of the camera for best results The user may assign various parameters to adjust for the best results. For example, maximum and minimum plate sizes help the ALPR make the best determinations based on the relative size of the text. This allows for superior versatility and accuracy.

8 Applications Once the license plate has been acquired, it can be saved in the ALPR’s database which, in turn, can be easily searched Video Export/Report Video Search Result The ACTi ALPR Server not only recognizes letters on the license plate, but (Click) the content is also stored in the ALPR server database, (Click) at which point the user may export or create a report, (Click) or perform a search for all plates detected within a set of search parameters NVR ALPR

9 Result Reports ALPR Result Report
At the end of each plate analysis, results can be printed for an overview. When an analysis is complete, the user can print a list of detected license plates alongside of other parameters such as confidence level and vehicle color.

10 Result Searching Searching Results Input in Search Filed Description
Results can also be searched via various parameters, such as partial plates Input in Search Filed Description Possible Results 1234CF Search for “1234CF” in the database 1234CF, 61234CF, 91234CFK 34*G Search for “34”+wildcard+”G” in the database 12349GH, G, 34DGD The user may also perform searches within the database. Even if the user only remembers a partial license plate, the ALPR server allows such searches with the use of wild cards. Wild cards (*) can be used to search for partial plates, making the ALPR a powerful search engine within its database

11 Licensing Structure Live View Channels
Up to 4 channels of video can be analyzed at one time in the server. Registration is similar to that of the NVR and CMS. Licensed by Channel Max Licenses: 4 Bundled: 0 In terms of license registration, the ALPR server allows up to 4 channels of video per server. The registration procedure follows that of the NVR and CMS, and license keys are still bound to the MAC address of the PC that the server is installed on. This concludes another ACTi presentation. Thank you for listening.
