2 Q1: What is your primary affiliation?
Answered: 2, Skipped: 0 Split almost evenly between the two institutions.

3 Q3: Which best describes your position at BUMC/BMC?
Answered: 2, Skipped: 19 Wide representation. The ones we are lowest on are hourly which makes sense given the survey is via - (perhaps we offer paper copies as well next year).

4 Q4: What time do you usually arrive on campus in the morning?
Answered: 2, Skipped: 0 Wide range, given the nature of the work, hospital environment.

Answered: 2, Skipped: 0 Same.

6 Q6: How long is your average commute time (one way)?
Answered: 2, Skipped: 12 More than half are traveling over 45 minutes- this is the standard we see for the greater Boston area.

9 Q8: Which do you consider your primary commute mode (the one you take most often for the longest distance)? Answered: 2, Skipped: 0 Drive alone is the largest percentage at 37%. Transit combined was at 39%, Ridesharing was at 3%, and Bike/Walk was at 13.9%. These will be slightly higher if we add the “other”

Note the number of people who took the shuttle as their primary method of commute. I was also surprised at the number of people who take an uber. This seems like an opportunity we should explore.

Answered: 1, Skipped: 1,866 Vast majority are using employer provided parking. Other were employees who worked at other sites (schraffts, Mattapan etc.)

16 Q14: Transit improvements by mode: BUS
Over 66% of the transit riders who responded take MBTA bus service for some or all of their commute. The routes most noted for these issues were the CT1, 47 and 1 bus routes, each receiving over 50 comments. Areas Needing Improvement: Increased frequency: 76% Reliability/On Time: 70% Recommendations: Better coordinate the schedules of the 1 and CT1 and 47 to avoid vehicle bunching and increase the frequency of service along these routes to increase capacity. Encourage the MBTA to pursue bus rapid transit pilots in the Dudley to Harvard and Dudley to Downtown corridors as described in the BRT report. 17 Q14: Transit improvements by mode: Orange Line
Orange Line: About 29% of the transit riders who responded use the orange line for some or all of their commute. Areas Needing Improvement: Increased Frequency: 70% Reliability/On Time Service: 60% Increased Capacity: 50% Recommendations: Follow the progress of the MBTA’s plan to replace the aging orange line vehicles with new cars between Procurement will increase the number of trains on the orange line from 120 to 152 vehicles and feel this, along with the improved design of the car with help to increase the frequency and capacity of the service. 18 Q14: Transit improvements by mode: Commuter Rail
About 26% of the transit riders who responded use commuter rail for their commute. The most popular lines are Providence/Stoughton, and Framingham/Worcester; although there were respondents on all twelve MBTA Commuter Rail lines. Areas Needing Improvement: Increased Frequency: 68% Reliability/On Time Service: 60% A fair number of commuter rail riders noted that fare evasion/platform checks. Recommendations: Provide updated vehicles with increased capacity and where possible add additional service to increase frequency of the trains on commuter rail.
