The RBMP in the Netherlands Man-made and highly regulated 8 mei 2006 The ‘Dutch challenges’ require a very fine-meshed water system, highly modified and regulated.

5 WFD is part of integrated water management
The RBMP in the Netherlands WFD is part of integrated water management 8 mei 2006 From engineering approach to integrated water management in last decades Participation of stakeholders since late middle ages, water taxes and general elections for Water board councils WFD is just one aspect of integrated water management beside e.g. protection against flooding and water regulation for urban land use, shipping, drinking water, nature, agriculture, recreation, industry etcetera

Conclusions 8 mei 2006 WFD is part of integrated water management in the Netherlands RBMP fits in existing plan scheme: a composite report Simultaneous plans at different levels, coordination by applying a course-to-fine strategy National portal used for exchange of information and is gate to public ( and WISE (in the future as a national WISE node)

Recommendations 8 mei 2006 Timely availability of Reporting guidance for RBMP and WISE formats Reduce reporting load by creating the possibility to use national portal as decentralised “WISE node”, following the INSPIRE principles Restrict reporting to information that make sense at the European level, detailed information is available at national level
