2 Summary Hamlet is still thought to be insane by many people because of his recent actions. He directs the play, The Murder of Gonzago, but changes it to fit the circumstances of his father’s death and his mother’s remarriage. This humiliates the King and Queen. Hamlet was going to kill Claudius, but he can’t bring himself to do it while Claudius is praying because he will not suffer. He later has a conversation with his mother regarding her hasty remarriage to his uncle and gets a visit from the Ghost at this time. Polonius is spying behind the curtain and Hamlet accidentally stabs him, thinking it is Claudius. at to a in line 6
