Golden Rule Charter School typical day
Breakfast is from 7:45 am to 8:15 am Students are encouraged to attend teacher tutorials during this time. Classes start at 8:30 am. Lunch is from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm. Recess is from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm. Specials are from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm

In seventh-grade social studies, we have classwork, presentations, Do Now activities (short activities finished at the beginning of class), homework, small group work, quizzes, and tests. All Texas History content is tied to the Texas Education Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. You can view the TEKS for 7th social studies here: This is also available on Ms. Endy’s page on the Golden Rule website: Our basic daily schedule for each class: Entry - students answer a question about history, review, etc. Do Now activity/give back student work Review New Material - small groups/pair work Check for comprehension Exit Ticket/Homework

Date: 10/7/2016, 12:30 PM – 6 PM Teachers are also available to meet with you and your student during their scheduled conference times/before school/after-school by appointment. Please contact your student’s teacher to schedule a conference.

STAAR Testing State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness. Every question that appears on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) is grounded in the knowledge and skills statements and student expectations within the state-mandated curriculum, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The curriculum at GRC is based on the TEKS so students will be well prepare for the testing.

Extreme hair color (unnatural color) or styles are not permitted CELL PHONES are must be turn in to the homeroom teacher at the beginning of the day. If seen or heard, they will be turned in to the office and may be retrieved by the parent.

Ways You Can Help Provide a quiet area for your student to do homework and study. Make sure your student gets plenty of sleep at night. Studies have shown that rest is essential during pre-adolescence. Being alert and attentive ensures readiness each day. Review your student’s planner/expandable file folder. Listen to/observe your child, communicate with teachers, be patient.
