2 Stubborn adjective If you are acting stubborn, you are determined to do things your way. You are not willing to change what you are doing or how you are acting.

4 Stubborn Mules are considered very stubborn animals. If they don’t want to move, they won’t. Sometimes a stubborn person is described as being as stubborn as a mule.

Some musicians become discouraged, or disappointed, after a poor performance. What does discouraged mean? It means feeling disappointed or hopeless.

30 Discouraged The girl was discouraged when she couldn’t figure out the problem on the board.

31 Discouraged She is discouraged because she doesn’t know how she will ever get all her work done.

32 Discouraged Discouraged can also be a verb. It means trying to keep someone from doing something. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney want to discourage people from voting for their opponent.
