3 Star wheel directions

4 Step 1: Cut along the black outer circle of the star wheel and along the solid lines and dotted lines keeping the directions on the star wheel holder. Remove the interior oval shape on the star wheel holder.

5 Step 2: Fold the star wheel holder on the dotted line so you can no longer see the directions

6 Creased/folded side Step 3:
Glue the star wheel holder in the corner of your folded piece of construction paper with the fold at the bottom and your directions on the back. Creased/folded side

7 Step 4: Cut around the star wheel holder and remove the interior oval from the construction paper. Be careful not to cut the folded side with the directions.

8 Staple along the edges of the Star Wheel holder forming a pocket.

9 Step 6: Place the Star Wheel in the Star Wheel Holder.

10 How to use your star wheel:
1. Align your date and time, and then look up at the sky 2. Locate the constellation you want to find on the map. 3. Turn your map so the horizon it is closest to is at the bottom. 4. The star positions in the sky should match those on the wheel.

11 Let’s practice: Set your star wheel to March 25 at 11 pm. Which constellation(s) do you see in the western horizon? Set your star wheel to December 15th at 3 am. Name at least 3 constellations you would see directly overhead. Canis Major & Orion Leo, Cancer, Gemini, Auriga, Ursa Minor, Ursa Major
