Concentration of solutions

Solution A solution: A solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more substances. Review what a solution is. Ask students for multiple examples. 2

Saturated solution Saturated solution: A solution is saturated when the solvent can no longer dissolve the solute. Example: Adding sugar to water until the point that there is too much sugar and it does not fully dissolve in the water anymore. 3

Unsaturated solution Unsaturated Solution: A solution is considered unsaturated if the solute can still be dissolved. The solution could still have more salt added. 4

Diluted solution A diluted solution : A solution that contains relatively little solutes. For example jus with too much water. 5

Concentrated solution
Concentrated solution : A solution that contains a large amount of solutes. Concentrated juice for example. 6

Solubility Solubility: The maximum concentration that a solution can have at a given time.

The rate of dissolving The rate of dissolving: The rate of dissolving is the measure of the speed of which something is produced. Stirring something really fast or really slow for example. 8

Stirring Stirring: The action of stirring or mixing the mixture. You are stirring something when you are making a mixture turn in the container. Stirring a mixture for example. 9
