Congress is Article I because they felt it was the most important. Set up a republican form of government. -Two equal houses: One chosen by the people (House) One chosen by the states (Senate) (until the 17th Amendment in 1913)

3 House and Senate House of Representatives: apportioned by population -2 year term -closer to the people -Writes revenue (tax) laws -Elects the president in a tie -Decides if there is evidence for impeachment Senate: -2 for each state -6 year term -closer to the President -Confirms Presidential appointees -Conducts a trial for impeachment

4 Article 2 – The Executive
-Veto -Executive Order -Appointment -Pardon -Impoundment – refusal to spend money -Foreign policy powers -War powers

5 Article III - Courts Constitution created a Supreme Court
Called on Congress to create all lower courts Jurisdiction – Constitutional law, federal law, foreign treaties, “Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls), the sea, interstate issues, and foreign citizens.
