The rationale in the old syllabus read…the rationale in the new syllabus has some unique and new influences – UNESCO’s Pillars of Learning…

The second key influence on the new rationale was a document, “The Ideal Caribbean Person”; a document adopted by CARICOM at its 18th summit.

The study of Physics is intended to assist students to:
acquire technical and scientific vocabulary
develop the ability to apply an understanding of the principles and concepts involved in Physics to situations which may not be familiar

appreciate the contributions of some of the outstanding regional and international scientists to the development of Physics
develop the ability to use critical thinking to solve problems
design and perform experiments to test theories and hypotheses
