2 Maps The orange shows our usual desert that is hot throughout the year, but the winter brings little rain fall. The temperature is about 43.5 to 49 degrees Celsius .

3 Climate Throughout all the seasons the hot desert are always hot in the morning and cooler during the night. In the winter polar deserts’ temperature can be negative 60 degrees Celsius . But in the summer it doesn’t snow and can reach up to 20 degrees Celsius.

4 Polar Deserts Did you know that Antarctica is the largest desert in the world? Antarctica is a polar desert. Polar deserts are a type of desert that the only type of precipitation is snow. Polar deserts rarely have rain and only have 1 to 5 percent of plant life , but there are 350 types of plants within the 1 to 5 percent of plant life.

Animals Gila monsters are poisonous reptiles that live in the desert. They only eat three meals a year that consists of eggs. Roadrunners are another animal in the deserts. Roadrunners eat bugs, lizards, spiders, fruits, and seeds. They live in cacti or trees and usually weigh about 8 to 15 oz. They run at speeds 15 to 18 mph.

Animals Polar bears are one of many animals in the polar deserts. Polar bears adapted to being warm in the winter by there fur and blubber. Penguins have adapted to swimming through cold waters by their water proof feathers and webbed feet.

7 Plants In the hot deserts you will find cacti
Plants In the hot deserts you will find cacti. When it rains wildflowers bloom. Cacti has adapted to the extreme weather in deserts. Polar deserts have very little plant life. One of the plants are Evergreen trees. Evergreen trees stay green all year round.

8 Natural Disasters Deserts have strong and violent wind storms called Sand Storms . Sand Storms can stay in the same place for about 3 months. Sand Storms have a blinding effect that can cause you to not see anything because of the sand. Lightning can accompany these storms. Blizzards also happen in a polar desert. Blizzards have strong winds and high amounts of snow that can make your vision fuzzy. A blizzard is usually below freezing.
