When Parents log in they will see the River of News for the GECDSB and the school’s River of News where their children are at. If the parent belongs to any groups they will appear in the My Groups section.
Below the child’s name is their classes and the marks (if the teacher of the class shares them) by level, % or letter grade. In the middle of the page is the recent activity for the student. Teacher posts are in this area as well as any posted absences. On the right of the screen is the child’s schedule showing their classes, assignments due, if the child has been adsent or late and any events that are posted in the group the child belongs too. i.e. School or school talk events

3. By opening the class – this is what the parent will see
When the parent opens the class they will see the course plan if the teacher has this posted. They will see any teacher posts if this is turned on. On the right they will see assignments due. Below the schedule for the class is the journal for the class if the teacher uses this and the Library for any files uploaded.

4. When homework or assignments are given they appear for parents to see
In addition to the teacher posts they will see homework or assignments.

5. Parents can see attendance by class or the child’s work
From the parent’s home screen on the left where the classes were listed parents can see the number of lates or absences for each of the classes. If they click on this the attendance history will appear for the parent to see.

6. When you select the My Work button the parent can see the assignments submitted and how they are graded if the teacher shares it with parents.
From the parent’s home screen on the left where the classes if the hover over the mark of the mark area they will see a my work button. When this is opened the parent will see all of the assignments and if the weighting and marked were shared by the teacher the parent would be able to see how they did on each of the assignments.

7. If teachers use the course plan parents and students can click on each lesson and if files are attached they can use the notes/powerpoint/ etc…

8. Students can download the files that teachers have used in the class if they are uploaded into Edsby.
