3 Summative vs. Formative
Formative – “for learning” HW, quizzes, class activities 20% of each semester grade Summative – “show me what you’ve learned” Chapter tests 70% of each semester grade Final Exam 10% of each semester grade

4 HW is KEY! Strong correlation between doing HW & being successful in a course. Students who don’t do the homework typically don’t do well on quizzes/tests. HW = practice, knowing what questions still need to be asked, knowing if you still need a little extra help, etc. HW is assigned most nights to practice and prepare for tests (summative evaluations).

5 Extra Help: Before School During the Day After School
7am in the Math Office During the Day Math Center – math teacher every period My free periods: 1st, & 6th After School Math Help in the Math Office – Mondays & Wednesdays Homework Club in the Media Center – Tuesdays & Thursdays; math teacher

6 Test Retake Policy To be eligible, the student must have all work for the current chapter turned in by test day. The student will meet with me to determine an appropriate re-learning task to complete. The student will need to complete the re-learning task before re-taking a similar version of the original test. All of this needs to be completed by 3pm of the 5th school day after going over the test in class. The re-take grade WILL REPLACE the original score, whether it’s better or worse than the original.

7 SAT Test Junior Year Formatting is different than ACT
