Who built the Great Wall? There are many answers. Some say Emperor Qin Shihuang. Some say ordinary working people of ancient China, and some say that it was slaves who built the wall. This is not an easy question to answer, just like the wall was not easy to build.

Originally the wall was constructed as a barrier against invaders, such as the Manchus, who were upsetting the known world at one period. But now, the Great Wall of china is used for tourists to walk on.

The Great Wall of China was built with a variety of materials. In the eastern section of China, it was made out of lime, bricks, blocks of rocks and stones. The western sections of the Great Wall did not use such durable materials, but rather used mud, straw, grass and pounded earth in wooden frames. This section was built earlier than the brick section.
